Process Improvement Engineer (vegetable oil processing facilities, Rotterdam)
The company
Our client is part of the plantation division of an international group which is the global leader in palm oil. The company, based in the Rotterdam area, is a leading European supplier of responsibly pro-duced vegetable oil based ingredients. The company manufactures more than 250 products under key brand names for margarines and spreads, dough fats for bakery applications, for ice cream fats, for premium flaked fats and a portfolio of soy and sunflower lecithins. Based on innovation and responsi-bility, the company’s strategy is directed to being the preferred partner of the European food manufac-turers.
The location in The Netherlands is also the base for the European R&D Innovation Centre which is part of the global R&D organization with its headquarter in Malaysia. The regional Innovation Centres of the group are responsible for product- and process innovation to support the customers and down-stream refineries of the group with the latest technology.
To realize the further growth ambitions, the product development department of IC Europe is looking for a Process Improvement Engineer
The job
You will be responsible for process optimizations at various vegetable oil processing facilities. You operate independently, but also in project teams in a dynamic environment.
Main tasks
- Project leader of projects that aim to reduce variable costs and improve product quality of existing production facilities.
- Responsible for the implementation of best operating practices.
- Responsible for initiating, monitoring and reporting pilot plant trials.
- Active contributions to expand and maintain contacts with engineers and operations worldwide.
- You will report to the Team Leader Process Innovation of the Innovation Centre Europe.
The profile
- BSc or MSc Chemical Engineering or Food Technology.
- At least 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in an international environment.
- Relevant experience in project management of improvement projects (e.g. Lean, SixSigma).
- Experience with refining processes for vegetable oils is a benefit.
- Good analytical skills, structured way of working, and result driven.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English, basic knowledge of the Dutch language and command of one other EU language.
